Heritage days: Conference by Maritchu Etxeverry in Lahonce

Heritage days are an opportunity to discover the treasures of our region. In order to introduce the abbey of Lahonce, conferences are organized around the abbey on Saturday, September 16th.

The first one will take place at 10:30. Doctor of Art History and a lecturer in the Department of Art History of the University of Pau and the Adour countries since 2012, Maritchu Etcheverry is a specialist of the medieval period. She has conducted research on Roman art in the northern Basque country and has supported a thesis on the Romanesque cathedral of Pamplona and Romanesque art in Navarra.

As part of the European Heritage Days 2017, she will present in Lahonce a conference entitled “The Premonstratensian abbey of Lahonce within Romanesque art in the Basque Country”. This conference will allow you to discover the richness of the buildings built in the 12th century but also to understand the context of spiritual renewal and to consider the role and place that the abbey of Lahonce held within this religious mesh which was constituted so.

An other conference will take place at 16:30, about the Discoidal stele by Claude Labat.
